Canopies for Northstar wagons?
« on: August 15, 2012, 04:23:09 PM »
Anyone tried making a canopy for the Northstar MDF Covered Wagons?  Like the wagons but need covers. Anyone have any ideas? I  guess i could just buy canvas and try to make a cover, but gluing could be tricky, and it will probably be hard to get that rumpled look.

"Tissue?"  Like Kleenex?

Kleenex or toilet paper both work, just paint on or dip them in PVA/Elmer's, drape the piece in place, let partially dry, and then trim up any overlap.

Nice thing about this method is that it's so cheap you can afford to practice.

So you mean completely cover the kleenex in Elmer's and then shape it, or only use the glue at the attachment points?

Thanks again

Think of it as papier mache.  You need to cover the whole thing in elmers yes but you will need a few sheets of kleenex to build up a little thickness and strength. I would brush it on thinned with water but be cautious of dragging holes
