Bakkenwald: AARS and 4 New Warbands
« on: August 22, 2012, 10:53:44 AM »
As some of you may know I have been amassing a collection of painted minis and scenery for over a year now (for this and other projects, namely Cthulhu/Pulp, 6mm Fantasy and 10mm Fantasy). Now it’s time to play, unfortunately I have no gaming friends where I am so it is important for me to share it with LAFERs.

The Scenery used was mostly bought from Grimm in Summer 2011, the minis come from a range of sources. I painted none of them but can take credit for keeping some of them for over 20 years.

POINTS WILL BE GIVEN TO THOSE WHO CAN NAME THE LAF PAINTERS WHO PAINTED SOME OF THE MINIS!

So here they are, I decided to create four warbands so I could play two games in one evening. Drawing randomly it will be:  Pit Fighters Vs Orcs and Dwarves Vs Reikland Mercenaries.

All names inspired by years of playing WFRP!!!

Dwarves

Dwillack The Third: Noble (80): Shield, (5), Gromril Hammer (9), Helmet (10), Gromril  Armour 75 = 179 The armour was a tough choice it cost a Thunderer!!!!

Grunndig "The Green Dragon" HartWeg: Engineer (50): Handgun (35) = 85

Morklad Karanki: Wyrdstone Addict (Troll Slayer) (50): Two-Handed Sledge Hammer (15) = 65

Frimbar Fimbur: Wyrdstone Addict (Troll Slayer) (50): Gromril Hammer (9), Axe (5): 64

Grotti P’ants: Thundered (40): Handgun (35): 75

Hired Sword

Uli and Krutch: Dwarven Flamer Team (As Warlock) = 30 (Spells = Fires of U’Zhul and Sword of Rezhebel) - these were actually rolled, I had a standard warlock figure ready  though I may have fudged anyway….

Total: 498

Reikland Mercenaries

Aldred Lupantall: Captain (60):  axe (5), pistol (15)  shield (5), armour (20) = 105

Klaus Ostenwalder: Champion (35): Two handed Axe (15), Heavy Armour (50) = 100

Karl-Heinz Juger: Champion (35): pistol (15), duelling pistol (25), sword (10) = 85

Bengt Füller: Youngblood (15): spar (10), armour (20), buckler (5) = 50

Braugen Füller: Youngblood (15): sword (10), shield (5), armour (20) = 50

Max Henzer: Marksman (25): bow (10): 35

Josef Flynn: Marksman (25): bow (10): 35

Hired Swords

Albrecht Taagermann: (Elf) Ranger (40)

Total = 500

Chaos Thugs (Pit Fighters)

I followed the GW starting rules and bought the fighting styles but will use the weapons lists on mordheimer.com for buying new weapons (any new recruits will follow this process), I did this not least because otherwise the Pit fighter skill Arms master and because they might be too limited.

Pas-Bol Spikehead: Pit Boss (80): Undead Style (35) = 115

Khardang Bloodsucker: Dwarf Pit Fighter (50), Axe (5), Spiked Gauntlet (spiked tentacle) (15): 70

Marque-us  Crabb Pit Veteran (35): Undead Style (35) = 70

Drum and Drone Ulsen: (Dwarf) Pit Veteran (35): Orc Style (25) = 60

Raz-Bol Spikehead: Ogre Pit Fighter (165): Spiked Gauntlet (Horn and Morning Star) (15), Spiked Club (Axe) (5): 185

Total =  500

Orc and Goblin Horde

Follow the rules but my Goblins will NEVER have Cave Squigs so I gave them access the Black powder (as I have some lovely minis!!!!)

Tirzog Grunzker: Boss (80): armour (20), axe (5), shield (5) = 110

Grazgog Ficklog: Shaman (40): Sword (10): 50 spell: Zzap (do these guys only get one spell?)

Gashcog Bargo: Big ‘Un (40): Sword (10), Shield (5): 55

Lutknob Gobstabber: Big ‘Un (40): 2 Swords (20), armour (20): 80

Han-Sum-Git: Boy (25): two handed hammer (15): 40

Goblog Gobbag: Boy (25): sword (10); pistol (15): 50

Hoglarg "Red" Firebladder: Boy (25): Handgun (35): 60

Bogrot Brogbladder: Goblin (15): Bow (5), Shield (5): 25

Hired Sword

Grugzki Chainfist: Pit Fighter 30

Total = 500

Great stuff!

Lovely minis and scenery.
A really nice collection.
 :-*

I like the way that you given some of your own flavour to the project, like the minis you have chosen to utilise the Pit-Fighter list.
Much better minis, I reckon.

Nice alternative to the Warlock, too.
Like it!

That is a FANTASTIC collage of minis & scenery. You have a GREAT variety of cool pieces in a variety of styles that all seem to work well with each other...amassing such a FINE collection is a skill akin to that of a choreographer or a casting director. VERY WELL DONE!

Sorry I'm not yet familiar enough with my Fellow L.A.Fers' work to pick out individual painters...getting there though.
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx

You've built up a nice collection of warbands, there.

I have played solo Mordheim, running bands against each other, many times - quite fun.  Do you have the Chaos in the Streets rules, designed for games with three or more warbands (includes new scenarios)? Big dust-up can be a lot of fun.

Have fun!

Great show Adam! I think the Prof did some dwarfs for you (based on the basing style), but those could be Cpt Blood too. It's hard guessing.

This reminds me I still haven't mailed your dwarf. =( Did get your address though and will get on it!

great stuff Adam!  :-* Lookin forward to see some battle report with those gems!
I'm honoured to be mention as the painter of those reiklanders (they are really cool, both minis and paintjob!) but it wasn't me, Dr. Falkenhayn. :)
Another warband is almost ready to leave Italy: skaven are coming, Adam ;) Finishing the last four.
