Arab / Slavers cannon
« on: 23 August 2012, 03:41:58 PM »
I felt the need to beef up my Arabs and envisaged an Arab master gunner supported by local levies manning a looted ships cannon, perhaps mounted on a tower or on the ramparts of a mud brick fort or Tempe,or possibly the deck of a Dhoy. Anyways it should give any Colonial landing party a pause for thought.

All figures are ansar conversions, gun barrel is a left over from Victrix British artillery with the carriage scratch built and walls and doorway foamboard and card.

Lovely work.

I keep thinking about using the Perry plastic Ansar as Nile Arab Slavers
"Ho, ho, ho! Well, if it isn't fat stinking billy goat Billy Boy in poison! How art thou, thou globby bottle of cheap, stinking chip oil? Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles, you eunuch jelly thou!"

Great conversion work (& painting too!)  8).

Did you take any pics as you were converting the miniatures? If so I'd love to see them.

Darrell.

Beautiful work. Nothing says Arab slavers like an old cannon. Always leaves the European forces shaking their heads and womdering "what the #%$* was that, and how did they get it here?"

Kind comments gentlemen and much appreciated. A few photos of a coffle at the run, awaiting a primer spray, and some more of the dastardly slavers, I was going for a Turkish or what I imagined a Zanzibar look.
