I finally got around to painting this a couple of weeks back, and here are the results.  I'm reasonably happy with the way it turned out.

I also made one of those mono-tread tank things - I added a periscope for better rear vision.

Finally got around to attempting some weathering on the steam crab I made ages ago, too.

And finally, a new model in the works.  A bit of a beast - 7 inches from ground to tip - probably be another year before I finish it! :D  I need to add some soil to the teeth on the drill bit, and I should add a few more rivets here and there.

Sorry for the pretty crappy photos. Thanks for taking a look!

PS: If a mod wants to chuck this onto the VSF board, that would probably be a better home?  Thanks!

They've turned out well  8)

Don't worry about the length of time finishing stuff, I've still got projects from 2008 that need to be done  :)

I don't know if it's any help(or how you want it to look!), but it's fairly easy to make a big drill bit. This was done basically how you done yours, the only difference is I cut a circle concentricly(right spelling?) out from the centre(it comes out like a big spring!) then placed it over the cone. It looks alright when painted!

BTW your steam creations look brill!! Lovely builds and nice painting!! :-* :-*

Thanks for the feedback, all :)

The painted vehicle is STUPENDOUS. And you are "reasonably happy" with it Supercollider? I am pleased you are not my boss, "Bezzo you have worked 120 hours this week, I am reasonably happy with your effort".

It is as fantastic as I hoped it would be. A lousy paint job would have wrecked all that great building work but you have pulled off a magnificent feat, it looks tremendous and I doff my cap in admiration.

Cheers, Bezzo - I am happy with it really, and it looks the dogs when it is used in a game, so mission accomplished? It's just one or two things that bug me that I would do differently now ;)

Andy - thanks for the drill tip (so to speak).  There's a row of teeth down the back too, but they don't quite do the job, the cone looks a bit bare.  I'll have a go at your spiral technique - your sub is amazing!  :-*

Ah! You're the originator?  I searched and couldn't find the post.  Thanks for the inspiration ;)
