Ramshackle Armoured GNU built - a big beast indeed!
« on: August 28, 2012, 12:37:22 PM »
One of the many nice models from Curtis: the armoured GNU, here shown with a 28mm Copplestone neo-Sovjet for scale reference.  A very nice model (with interior detail and opening tail door) indeed, even if it takes some sanding.  As usual with Ramshackle, there are several options for arming the vehicle.  I really enjoyed building it.
I used "green" Zap-a-Gap for glue (and heavy sanding paper to flatten the bottom of the parts (or should I say top?, anyway: the side where the resin is poured in the mold), used a common grey primer followed by Army Painter Leather Brown spray, heavily drybrushed with Vallejo Denso skin tone, highlighted with Vallejo Iraqui sand and sealed with Army Painter anti shine matt varnish.

Thank you, so was I.  I've got a few more and am toying with the idea not to mount the "radar" and place a larger turret & gun on it to use as a tank.

I picked up three of the flatbed version last week to serve as civilian vehicles (more for as space port terrain than gaming pieces). They're very well made, huge and incredibly good value so I highly recommend them.

I love the idea of getting of those flatbed GNUs for general sci-fi gaming and terrain.

Nice paint.  It looks a lot smoother and less, well, ramshackle than I had previously thought.

Cool job Rudi!

Nice paint.  It looks a lot smoother and less, well, ramshackle than I had previously thought.

Yeah, thats what a lot of people say! Its made by Leo (he now does QC for finecast!), with the back and turret made by me later.
