Tentacle W.I.P Update
« on: September 02, 2012, 01:15:57 PM »
Hi Everyone  :)

I have decided to have a go at sculpting some large monster tentacles.

Here is the W.I.P of first one, I am going to do about three or four of these and some bases, with them bursting through some wooden floor boards etc.

I'm not sure about the Suckers, What do you think?  ???

And a scale shot with a GW Chaos Warrior.

Thanks
George

To be honest I'm not sold on the suckers. They are too.. mundane.

I'd rather you went in a direction more akin to the tentacles from the film "The mist". Here you have the concept art, by none other than Berni Wrightson:

I'm taking for granted you have seen that film... If not... go and see it! Now!
And then search for the concept art. Great inspiration.

Looking good so far & personally I dont mind the suckers they just need a bit of detailing on the flesh around them to make them look more alive & part of the tentacle

They need to be bigger. Muuuuuuuuch bigger!
The gaming world needs more huge tentacles for scenarios...there just aren't any.

Hi Everyone  :)

I've Started on another tentacle and finished a submerged head of a sea creature. I'm going to do a few different ones.

What do you think, do you think he needs eye lids?

Cheers

Get some inspiration from the images in this clip:

There's also anoother one where the octopus from the movie is shown in "real life" rearing it's head above the water similar to your work in progress, but I can't find it :(

Lidless eyes staring into the abyss.....

As already posted/suggested: let's have a 'hunter' tentacle a la the mist please. (large shaped lobed squid tentacles)

Also go for a watcher in the water alternative head and you've got a king of the bands (;)) creature too.
