40K: Time to Revisit an Old Friend?
« on: September 11, 2012, 01:45:21 PM »
Have been strangely attracted by all the attention that 40K 6th Ed. has been receiving. I have not played 40K for about a decade, but I recently found myself picking up a few figures from Ebay, and sorting through my Tau and Kroot armies...

Great stuff!
 :-*

Particularly striking are the Kroot cavalry (what are those mounts in the top two pics, BTW?) and the Tau disc-thingy (Clever!).

Great inspiration!

The mounts are Daemonette Steeds from the previous version of Demonettes. The lady is removed as is the steeds head. Then replaced with a Kroot Hound head...

As for the chariot, kit-bashed from left-over Tau bits, a couple of slotta bases (40mm and 25mm) and an odd bit of plasticard (red in the photo).

I love the converted mounts; very inspired.  8)

Really odd nobody has ever done that before, as it seems like a perfectly natural conversion. Great stuff!
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thanks for the idea, ironmammoth.

I thought that may have been the case, but did not want to look a total donut if I were wrong.... ::)

I have some of the original mounts of Slaanesh that I want to convert for VSF but wanted an alternate head.
Kroot hounds may be the answer....

I think one reason it has not been done too often is that it works out pretty expensive, when you combine the mounted Daemonette with the Kroot Hound head etc.

Still I think it works very well...

Cracking work, strangely I've been dragged back into 40K reacently, except we're doing a 30K type thing. Though I'm just building a force and painting it in an old colour scheme.

That flying disc is top notch, fits really well with the Tau aesthetic.

Looks good. I've not played 40k for about 3 years, what's different in the new editions that make sit worth picking up again?
