HirstHulk, GZG, Khurasan
« on: September 23, 2012, 01:26:07 PM »
This is the modular HirstHulk gameboard I've been working on this year. Cast with dental plaster, to be used for a number of games - specifically 5150 Star Army and Flying Lead. The scientists in the yellow hazmat suits are GZG.

The pics aren't that great; I need to get better lighting.

This room has removable doors (each with a red and a green side).

The big room can be reconfigured and extended with future builds.

The wheeled tank is GZG. I'm pretty happy with the camo scheme.

The xenomorphs are Khurasan Space Demons. These are supposed to be faster, weaker runners - hence the smooth head and the reddish color. I worked them over with glossy nail varnish. Fortunately, the figs look better in person than in the pics. The camera had trouble focussing; I guess with better light, the pics would be more informative.

And, again, the scientists.

Now I can tackle the (armed) good guys for this.

Lovely gameboard!

Lots of great detailing with plenty of room for movement and battle.

It yells... "Play on Me!"

Very Nice Zorg.  Im guessing the dental plaster is lighter than normal plaster otherwise that would be a weighty lot.

I think the weight isn't much different, actually. A T-intersection comes to 240g. The point of the dental plaster is that it's much tougher than plaster of paris, so it doesn't chip so easily and survives a modest drop to the floor.

Of course, this means building a cardboard box for storage and transport will be difficult. Either I'll have to layer and strengthen things quite a bit, or I'll need to use wood in the first place.

Wonderful board. Much kudos to you!

The red armschairs, on the other hand, are extremely kitsch (in my opinion).

I literally laughed out loud at this :D I embrace the kitschniness and make it my own.
