Boxer Rebellion ranges.
« on: September 19, 2012, 08:03:49 PM »
Hi Does anyone know of any impending or future new Boxer rebellion or Taiping ranges in the offering. I would love to start a new project in this period.  THE CID.

Mutineer Miniatures have been talking of a Taiping range for some time but I do not know if these will fall by the wayside now Brian has handed over the reigns? The recent Brits in airpipes from their Mutiny range are instant swapovers so you could say they have started.

Boxer Rebellion wise I am pretty sure our very own JimBibbly has plans to expand on his Japanese figures but I will leave it to him to reveal his intentions.

Redoubt have been slowly adding to their Boxer range in recent months too with some French from Seymours relief column being the latest.

Studio Miniatures have Brits and Yanks so far and I am sure will be doing more.

I have heard rumours of more but am not at liberty to say who/what/when.

Mr. Bibbly,

Is there a possibility that you would do Vietnamese auxilliaries specifically Annamite and Tonkinese troops? Also, HM First Chinese regiment isn't produced by anyone either.

Just hoping,

W

Why?

Because armies stopped Marching in combat after the Crimean War. They finally worked out that it was a suicidal thing to do. It's a rubbish pose.

I am quite sure someone can point out Lord Dumbwit the third or some such who made his troops march under fire but they were on the out.

Why did you have to ask why?  ::)

And like every other time we have had this discussion, they march to and from combat if not in it ;D ;D ;D ;D

Must admit I am with you to a degree but not to the point of exclusion.  Taking the argument further, what about guard poses?  Even less of use in "combat" but still look nice. :D  You could even say they were marching troops at a halt ;)

Now JB, just make sure there are kneeling, prone and firing poses :)

At least no one has mentioned bed rolls  ;)

A game where the army starts in column formation etc looks great if the figures are marching, but they don't happen that often. Guard poses... They do look good and I've used them as sentry figures before but I don't generally buy them. They can be used as part of a command group though as officers tend to be static poses.

Simple answer is, don't buy the marching ones  ;D

With the other nations there will be a choice between marching, march attack and shooting poses.

cheers

See, that's perfect, do multiple poses then everyone's happy :)

I suppose I should have said, don't only do marching poses.
