28mm ACW Project
« on: March 05, 2008, 10:41:24 PM »
My long term ACW rebel-yell continues... Im trying hard to speed paint but Im so slow at 28s compared to 20s.

Some of the 'done' pile waiting to be based... Only another 100 infantry after those!

And a couple of pics of my 'butternut' test...

Yet more work... Mainly basing and a bit of painting...

All the infantry... Some still need basing. These troops will make my first rebel division and then a whole load of Perry's plastics will make my second! Still cavalry and guns to add to this lot but they are staying in the drawer for now!

Close-up of my two multi-base units to fill out the centre of my two marching units. They are mounted four figures to a 50mm square for ease of movement in big games and as they are all marching poses, they aint really needed for my skirmish games.

Artillery built and ready for painting... Looking forward to painting a couple of these once half the infantry are done.

Yet more Rebs..

..And my Southern Gent!

Finally got the whole army based ready for painting... Its as follows;

1 x General with Army Standard Bearer
2 x Sub-Commanders with messengers

2 x 20 man Veteran Units
3 x 20 man Experienced Units

1 x 15 man Sharpshooter Unit

1 x 10 man Cavalry Unit
1 x 14 man Dismounted Cavalry Unit

2 x 2 Gun Batteries

So far I have three of the infantry units finished and the dismounted cavalry half-done!

Im now looking at increasing the army once this lot is painted... Especially with the new Perry plastics on the way... Im even thining of doing a Union Army in plastic given the prices!

Wow.
150+ figures in one bite.
That's a massive undertaking - I salute you.

These days I paint 5 - 10 figures at a time.
Any more than that, I lose heart / get bored halfway through.

I wish I could get more interested in ACW, but unaccountably it just doesn't grab me at all. Your figures look great though, and a very well thought out collection.

Good luck with the rest of it.

Guess we'll see the end result in... a year? 6 months?

Impressive :)  Have you got a mixture of manufacturers in there. I recognise Redoubt and some Renegade. Who makes the artillerymen and guns?

You've got me thinking about going back to my Redoubt ACWs now - just when I had finally gone back to painting my pirates after a three year break, curse you

What with your pics & the prospect of the new Perry ACW plastics, there really is no hope that I'll ever get anything finished

Never say I'm focussed....

Well its taken about a month to do half the infantry so... Maybe by the summer.

To be honest I have been bragged of into working on a 'Cold War' project and another 'Top Secret' project...
