Great rework on the EM4 figures. I am enjoying the Blackwater Gulch game....I will be playing in just about 2 hours or less...whooo! I get to try out my new gang! I should be posting a Battle Report, but I forgot my camera, Ryan has an Iphone so he should be able to email me some snaps to use.

I have some fun evil in this group including a Tong Figure I painted up last night with a pair of swords! A gunslinger with two colts, a leader with a good rifle and pistols plus a shotgun and another repeater...threw a horse in for fun.

Thanks. I think the figures look a lot better in person than the photos personally.

Where did you find the horse model? One of the cool things in the rules is rules for horses. Biggest issue I see with it though is finding a horse and rider model set and then a matching character model on foot.

Great looking gang :) But I think One-Tooth Webber needs to visit the gunsmith and get his rifle fixed :)

We hope to address the horse issue in the next Kickstarter if we get enough funding. We'll do plastic horses (hopefully), and then get new sculpts of each gang leader on horseback done, and if that works out we'll move on to the professionals next. In the meantime though, one good source I found for cheap plastic horses is Wargames Factory. You can order sprues of just 3 horses, or a pack of I think 12. No riders, but could work for proxy models.

Glad you're enjoying the game :)

I have a feeling that Webber's rifle is going to break off soon, so I might just snap it off preemptively, pin it and re-glue it back together. I already had to reinforce the knife, but of the ten figures he's the only one I've seen any issues with.

I tried out the BWG rules last night and shooting is DEADLY. I was playing on a table that was closer to 3'x3' and wow, good shootin' will mow down figures quick! I might have to revisit the lists a bit and add a doctor into the citizen posse. Easy rules to pick up and play, but if you try them with custom gangs I'd highly recommend writing down the weapon stats on your cards.

After I tweaked my gang lists to have two professionals as suggested in the rules, I played a game with a real-live opponent last week. Here's what I thought (excerpted from a larger post at http://obsidian3d.blogspot.ca/2012/10/sentinels-ofblackwater-gulch.html):

... I had planned ahead and also bought my newly based cowboy figures and the rules for Blackwater Gulch that I'd printed out last week. We grabbed a table and set up some terrain to give the rules a go.

There are no pictures of the game because I relatively busy flipping through the rules while we tried to figure out the various skills, modifiers and other crunchy bits. Those kind of things always come up during a first play. Our table was a little bit too big, so the game ended up being mostly shooting, but I did make a few attempts at melee.

William's long-range henchman made short work of three of my figures, but with the help of my doctor I was able to revive two of them and was able to pull out a win. The doctor profession can be really strong. I'm sure if we'd realized just how good it was earlier on she wouldn't have survived past the first few rounds.

My initial impression of Blackwater Gulch is a good one. The rules are relatively simple, but there is space for good tactical play, and cover is really important. The leader's luck dice, and the various professions and skills add some good depth to what would otherwise be a very vanilla game. I'm looking forward to finding some more Western themed figures and adding to my gangs.

I'm committing some thread-o-mancy here...

These are all Bones figures from the first Reaper Kickstarter. There are some individual photos on my blog at http://obsidian3d.blogspot.ca/2015/09/reaper-bones-gunfighters-temptress.html
