Inspirational: SS expedition to Tibet, 1938
« on: September 28, 2012, 07:49:17 AM »
The zoologist and (probably somewhat forcibly drafted) SS member Ernst Schäfer (yes that was really his name) led a multiscientific expedition into Tibet in 1938, officially to study local wildlife but probably at least partly at the behest of Heinrich Himler to discover evidence of Aryan and Nordic superiority left over from ancient times.

Among the artefacts they discovered was a wonderful statue "iron man", carved from meteoric iron... Now, the historians don't believe the Nazis knew it was made of a meteor but hey, let's not let that stop using it (and the expedition) as WWWII and pulp adventure fodder 8)

Yeah, I read a similar article yesterday about this statue. I got strong B.P.R.D. vibes.

Wernher von Braun wanted a cheaper way of getting a suitable paperweight for his desk?
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

You've given me visions of the Nazis trying to escape down a mountainside with the stolen statue!  lol
To the drawing board!
