Top stuff Bugsda
I cannot pretend to feel impartial about colours. I rejoice with the brilliant ones and am genuinely sorry for the poor browns. - Winston Churchill

That is stunning, Bugsda!

On a side note: isn't it a shame people don't get these cool names any longer? I think all statesmen should have a mandatory charactonym.  Winston Churchill should have gone to posterity as Winnie the Grim, Karl XVI Gustav as Oafish King Karl and and German Chancellor Helmut Kohl as Helmut Coer-de-Blue-Whale (becasue of his heart condition)

Heck, I would like to have have one but since you don't get to pick one yourself I would probably end up Peder The Complete And Utter c***.  :(

Sorry, back to admiring Bugsda's paint work...

"The Normans" on TV the other night showed the tapestry with William's brother Odo carrying a club as he was a preist and therefore not permitted to spill blood (only smash in heads  o_o!)

I seem to remember from ist year history at school (42 years ago so cut me some slack  ;) ) that Odo had blagged a Bishopric for political gain.

I think it is well known, though anecdotal, that during the 3rd charge up Senlac hill William did say to Odo "Lend me your club this fucking spear is giving me blisters"

 ;)

 lol lol

In Medieval Military Technology Kelly DeVries writes that leaders, both Norman and Anglo-Saxon (sic) are depicted on the Tapestry with clubs/maces, which he argues is a symbol of office rather than the bishops not spilling blood thing many were taught in school.
