Water Tank for Calamity
« on: February 12, 2014, 07:48:13 PM »
I finished this water tank kit from Banta Modelworks. This is an On3 laser kit so it takes a bit more work than the ones from the various laser cut game manufacturers. Since there has been recent discussion on the proportions I think this is an excellent example of how well O scale narrow gauge works with our miniatures. While personally I consider O scale standard to be way to big for our purposes most railroad related buildings; water tanks, engine houses and the like work just fine because their proportions are smaller. This water tank has a nice stout feel to it without being over whelming. Also many O scale detail parts actually work quite well for our buildings. In particular when you look at pictures of western style buildings you will see that the front doors and windows are quite large and the regular O scale detail parts work quite well representing this. There are a bunch of in progress pictures on my blog. (And yes if you read the Old West sub forum, this was originally posted there).
