My first post (not just a reply): Crusader Norman Archers

Hi, guys.

Indeed, this is not my first post, but the firs original post. I've been overwhelmed since I registered in this forum months ago. Why? The high painting level.

Well, my paintint skills are as bad as one year ago, but I keep on trying and practicing and painting, of course.

Anyway, I think now it's time to show some pictures to the world. I realize I am not a good/medium painter, neither a good photographer. Even with a good camera I'm not able of taking a decent picture.

But here they are. A whole 8-miniature.blister from Crusader. I like the outcome, but I know they can't go to any competition (not even in a kindergarten). 







I chose 1024px width pictures, I hope they will display correctly.

I think you're being far too hard on yourself. There's certainly nothing wrong with your minis (or your English).

Thank you! Last time I visited my wargaming shop, I was fooling around with the shop assistant. I bought Warlord Games Roman Auxilia box 2 years ago: my first painting job in 28 mm miniatures.

The outcome was calamitous (I wrote the firs posts of my blog on this subjetc). But I didn't discouraged, because after I told this story to the shop assistant, I decided to buy another Roman Auxilia. I've just began to paint them, but the difference is so huge: colorfull, basing, details...

So I have to be grateful for being encouraged to carry on.

Good work, certainly nothing wrong with these! Good clean lines which is half the battle in painting. Keep going, I look forward to seeing more!

If you really feel badly about them then send them to me and I'll give them a warm welcome with my early Medieval host.

They're quite good actually, don't be so hard on yourself.

That's the thing with us creative types we spend so much time up close and personal to our work all we can see are the faults and the bits we should have done better. So it's good to show your work here where folks aren't so up close to it and can be more objective.

As already mentioned, you've suceeded in producing nice clean lines. You've mastered the basics, work more on you're shading and highlights and you'll  see further improvement. But I'm with everyone else when they say you're being too hard on yourself, they really are rather nice.

Great start and the more you paint the better you will get.You are right some great painting here but also some great painting advice from those who can so stick around
