DO IT.

I once planned to do a RA2 Soviet army for 40k, but gave up after realising how much work it would entail.
I told you so. You damned fools.

If you go with 1:72 / 20mm, you can get suitable boxes of plastic infantry for about £7 (a box has around 50 models IIRC), so it's definitely easy and cheap!

I'd go 15mm or perhaps smaller. Lots of vehicles and scenery options, and it's cheaper than 28mm.
I have a bit of a 15mm sci-fi project going on using GZG minis and vehicles, alongside Old Crow vehicles.

Thanks for the link Engel, really inspiring even if it is a different game.

I've now all but confirmed 20mm for the scale, I just need to take a quick shopping trip and maybe grab some models to test out some painting on.

As for rules, I may have to home brew something, but let's burn that bridge when we come to it.

I'll be updating my beta in the not-too-distant future for OP4S [which is a tabletop RTS]. This revision should let you do everything C&C does in a streamlined fashion and would give you something to tinker with while we start balancing factions. Shoot me a PM when you have your forces ready to go! ;)

For terrain Battlefield in a box warped stone has a striking resemblance to Tiberium deposits.
