Strange Aeons mini campaign part II: "Serpent Cult"
« on: October 13, 2012, 09:58:31 AM »
The story so far...

Having evaded the Gypsy henchmen and recovered the crates full of necessary equipment the Threshold team led by agent Stotzfus prepared to explore the hillside caverns. The problem however was that there were so many cavern entrances, which one led to the actual evil that plagued the region? They had no choice but to start exploring the caverns, and into the darkness they went, guided by their electric torches and gasoline lanterns.

Check the blog for more pictures and full summary of how the scenario went down.

Great stuff, Anatoli!
 :-*

Plenty of gaming opportunities in those lovely caverns.
 ;D

Time to re-equip with a flamethrower, methinks.
That would be just the job in those confined spaces!

BTW, Anatoli... I'm borrowing your idea for wound tokens if you don't mind. They really do add visual appeal to AAR's/games. Hope to see more snakemen in the next reports... I want to see some spells!

The Serpentman demagogue in this scenario tried to cast Time Shift but failed and ended up face down  :?

I'm finding many of the Lurkers to be a bit too expensive for what they actually do - then again we rolled crazy in this campaign. Rarely a result that did not end with an instant kill!  :o So perhaps the experience was tilted a bit too much in favor of lucky rolls.

I find that a lot of the Lurkers are overpriced in comparison to the good guys.
I do not mind, as it tips the balance in favour of the good guys and makes for a good campaign if the good guys stay around longer.

That's interesting. We've seen the Night Gaunt as extremely powerful for its points in starting games. In one of our last games, one Night Gaunt out of 2 killed every member of a Threshold team single-clawdidly.

Anyway, looking forward to more cavernous adventures.

Well, some of the Lurkers are great, Nightgaunt and Maniac being two that stand out, but some seem a lttle weak.
I guess it is a case of learning to use them.
The good guys are used consistently, so practice makes life easier, whereas using the Lurkers is a learning curve as you may not have used them before.

Time will tell....

Brilliant report as always. Love those tunnels...I've got a set started as a winter project. Will be stealing a few of your ideas...especially that watery part with the stalagmites!  :-*

Thanks Mike, my buddy Thomas who made those caves will be making more cavern sections and I asked him to make a tutorial for all interested which I hope to post on my blog or see posted on his soon  :)

Each cavern tile is 1x2 feet, so 3 tiles made a perfect 2x3 strange aeons table.

My friends Thomas and Fredrik are also working on a Post Apocalyse skirmish terrain using the Lead Adventure post apoc range of miniatures. They've been building a ruined cityscape and are working on pieces of a metro tunnel. The idea for them is to somehow use the cavern tiles with that metro section later on to get one huge underground location.

The nice thing with these caves is that you can use them for so many settings, pirates/horror/pulp/sci fi etc
