Wheels

Hi all,

I'm trying to scratch build some VSF conveyances and need wheels. Does anyone know where I can get hold of 19th and early 20th century wheels? They need to be roughly 1 inch (2.5 centimetres) in diameter but can be larger. I've scoured E-bay and I'm trying to avoid buying model kits just to use the wheels.

I know Sir Henry Bullshot uses the Orc wheels from GW for some of his conveyances. Check out his thread "The Eagle has landed" the rear wheels on the small steam tank are GW ones.
Alternatively an Email to a company who makes lots of wagons and cannon with a nice begging letter asking to sell you a bag of wheels might do the trick. I would think any wheel off a C19th century gun or carriage will work :

Thanks for the advice all! Bleedin' marvellous.

I spoke to GW today and they no longer sell small accessories so I would have to buy a whole piece of kit just to get the wheels (and we all know how expensive that could be!!).

I've sent a few crawling e-mails to manufacturers but the wheels Brigade have on their website are ideal so I think I'll go for that option.

I have some spare resin wheels you can have from my steam tank range, ( as we now use metal wheels ) if they are of any use to you.

Minifigs used to do spare wheels (years ago, but they may still), Amazon Miniatures (think that's the name) have the old QT Models 25mm range which used to have all sorts of bits, including heads, shields, weapons etc.

Ian Campbell at Ellerburn might have some old Hincliffe ones, and he's usually quite a decent cove.
