Ran across this during some other research and thought it might be of interest. This outfit doesn't look designed as much as collected together. Maybe this is why it seems more post apocalyptic than science fiction.

 lol, my god it looks hideous! It really looks like some one dropped the ball, on the reporters showing up and they threw some thing together. I mean honestly I have seen people slap together better and more functional get ups in there garage. :P

What is with all the colored bits on the rifle and uniform....dayglow orange and bright green plastic?  At least he doesn't have a globular fish-bowl helmet and a silver uniform!  Gad!  What a mess!  :? lol ???
