V.S.F. Inspiration
« on: October 31, 2012, 04:52:35 PM »
I was living in Los Angeles Ca. while they were filming The Wild Wild West. One day this appeared on a railroad siding near my home. It was as large as a locomotive, bristling with cannon, gatling guns and more rivets than the Nautilus.

It's when the tank first appears, it comes in like a train and then detaches from the front and folds up it's train wheels. Very cool pics, looks better as a train.

The engine showed far too briefly in the movie.  The Derailer was on the tracks for several weeks and I would often  stop to look. So awesome, it was love at first sight!

Me too, and they come with a second toy of the character on the mechanical legs which are great for making VSF walkers.

Where can one get these wonderful toys?

Please don't tell me they were a MacDonalds happy meal toy which is now out of production.

The toy was available at retail outlets when the movie was released in the late 90s. Though filled with potential they're not as wonderful as the Derailer in the film.

I had one until very recently, I picked it up at the Fall In flea market for $2 last year.  I found it way too big for 28mm gaming so now Viper4Dan has it and is using his scratchbuilding skills and turning it into something else.  More to follow when it's finished.

I have a good feeling about it!
