Testing some stuff out

So after playing at my cousins house I've got the bug to build something again.  I always wanted to do a medival villiage so I thought what the heck.  I want the buildings to have a consitant them though so I'm working on some test pieces to get some techniques down.  So here's my 3x3 test building, it measures 3 3/8 tall.  I wanted a stone base and wood shingle roof so those are what I'm working on.  All in all I'm happy with but I think the roof and stonework don't mesh well.  I think I need a more hap-hazard stacked look, more irregular like the roof.  The roof shingles might be a bit large but I actually like the bulky look and it looks great at arms lentgh on the table.

Any thought's or ideas would be appreciated!

First thing I would do is finish painting it You will see it in a totally different way.

Ok, did a quick paint of the roof.  I really like the effect it was, I think I just need to work out a chucky, irregular rock base to match and then start making some buildings.  Thoughts?

Maybe you are right about the stonework; You should try carving the stonework section out of a block of insulation foam.
You could quite easily achieve a more haphazard effect that way.

Is it robust enough? Looks like polysterene in the photos...
