An 'attempt' you call it?

Bloody good, is what I call it!
Lovely work on the tartan.

Thanks Mason really pleased you like him!

I've called my Blog; "the Mongrels" because I eventually intend on recreating the British 7th Division in the Peninsular.
Unfortunately I decided this after buying my first models, a box of Victrix Highlanders so I guess my planned division will just have to have an attatched division of Highlanders!  :)

Anyway, work has really been progressing on my first Napoleonic battalion. It's actually 3 weeks since I painted my first Highlander and I've now almost finished my Gordon Highlanders. Really enjoying painting these, I've never painted anything historical before so it's a new challenge for me. I've found that it requires quite a bit of discipline to paint all these kilts and straps etc but once the unit starts taking shape they start looking great and it gives you the motivation to keep going!

Enjoying the research side of things too trying to keep things as accurate as possible, but anyway that's enough of my waffle here are some more photos:

Really nice looking troops, my only question is with the red sporrans. I'm no expert but I thought they are white fur and black tassels.

Glad you spotted those bullet hits Bandit, wasn't sure if you could make them out in my photos.
Thanks for the high praise Hitman! No one has ever said such nice things about my minis before! As for painting yours... I don't think I could face painting any more tartan!! LoL

Hi Fantail
I'm afraid I'm still learning about Napoleonic accuracy. I had no idea what colour to paint the sporrans so just plumped for a strong colour. I'll have to change them now! If you notice the Headdress hackles are also all over the place! I originally thought they were all white but then I read that they were red with white tips but I've also since seen pictures that are white with red tips!?! Any help? Also I didn't know that the light company and grenadier companies had different colour hackles! So I'm in the process of changing them...Green for the light and white for grenadier I hope?
Also you can probably see that the whole battalion have flank company shoulder wings... something else I was unaware of when I started but too late now sorry!
My next planned regiment is going to be my favorites... the 68th Regiment of Foot,The Durham Light Infantry. Do you know if they would have worn grey or white trousers in the peninsular?
Cheers, Vulcanologist

Thanks Leaps, glad you like them. I've started painting a unit of KGL Hussars now. I have to admit it's many years since I've painted horses. I hated painting them then and nothing has changed!

Just a quick update on my progress...
I've completed my first squadron of Hussars! Finished the next 6 horses too, just the riders to do now. I'll try to get some pictures up ASAP.
Ps 68th(Durham Light Infantry) regiment of foot in the peninisular. Does anyone have any good information or color schemes??

These are beautiful, and the bullet hits add a level of cinematic realism that I love! I can't wait to see your cavalry.
