Eric,

Looking good so far.  And if I might be so 'modest', feel free to go here and 'steal' any ideas you feel like:

I was thinking to get involved in the contest but never got a reply to my question so I'll opt out.  Not much into contests, anyway.  I build for the fun and sharing.  Will check out what gets built, hopefully will find some good ideas.

The set up and terrain effects were awesome. The sea life added touches were really great (I've got to know where you got the flamingos?!!).

Captain Hook, since I didn't see any flamingos in Eric's set-up I'm going to respond.  The flamingos are made by a company that markets under ECO, comes out of China, apparently in 'buckets' of 144 pieces (a gross).  I've seen similar items in a variety of hobby shops, these I found in one in Folsom, CA, USA.  They have a spin bin with about eight bins in it, maybe more, and each one a different item.  In these bins I've found a number of useful items - bison, draft horses, mustangs, seals that come immediately to mind.  And, of course, I'm referring to them being useful in 15 mm.  Some items might worker in larger scales.  Even thought these flamingos are big in 15 mm, might work as small ones in 25s, I did go back and buy more to have a larger flock in the future.  Being as much - if not more - a modeler as a gamer, I like to add such things to my games.

Hey, maybe now I can "steal" ideas from your blog.  Someday want to add a fort to my setup.  Looks good, Eric.

Hi Folks

Unfortunately work commitments into Xmas and a family holiday in the sun (oh plus Xmas) have put any chance of finishing my pirate island into the shade. The project will be picked up again in January

Great piece!  I'm back working slowly on my Pirate project, and I'm looking for inspiration.  I had the idea to do some stone-work jetties...but that harbour is so tempting!  Love the work.

Looking very cool. What else do you have in store for the island?
