Back view, it's amazing how long it takes to to paint so much foam, even a simple gray.

I apologize for the lack of details, but I promise to add more later.

A building front view, the paint is a mix of fairly fine sand, Apple Barrel Khaki craft paint, and white glue.

Chainmail and HerbyF,

Thanks for the inputs, for rebar I've found a nice florist wire at the chain called "Hobby Lobby".  Will post a report if it works.  If not I will try your ideas.

Daeothar,

You're so right about the silly two story building BS.

 As to your questions:
This building will be a short table edge with similiar rubble        on the other side.  The center is planned to be a courtyard/park.  The long sides will be far more demolished buildings to enable player access.

As to the pic you posted, I am also nutters, but the old lady won't allow me devote the entire abode to minis.

Major Talo,

What video do you so speak of?

Excellent work...

Suggestion - paint the foam the clour you want before you start cutting...this will be much quicker and all you have to do it paint the edges...

Not sure about that. He using as sand/glue/paint mix, not so ideal to cut once hardened IMO.

Eric,

You were right about the interior painting and Zizi was right about the sand paint.  I think I was drunk when did it all out of order.

I've started a roof access building.  Still needs painting and cleaning up.

The little roof comes off.  Please ignore the liberal application of hot glue, which I hope isn't to hard to tear up.

The actual roof coating is textured scrapbooking paper painted gray.  I need to find a way to wash it to make it look more roofy.

There's actually no way for models to get to the left side of the room, because of the giant hole in the floor.  I'll have to fix that.

I've almost finished painting the front and sides.    I'm too far away but most of the zeds in the windows are friendly and waving.

Here's a shot of part of floor one.  Until I took the picture, I had no idea how poorly I painted the walls.  I will never assemble unpainted terrain again.  Proper planning prevents piss poor painting.  I'll never be able to paint the stairs.

The painting is a piece of craft store jewelery with a little bit of paper glued on.  It's "Two children doing things next to a goat."

You could try cutting it off with a hobby knife. Perhaps even heated over a candle to melt through the glue.

Well, I for one share your philosophy of 'Bigger is Better'. Especially when it comes to buildings for gaming purposes. I am planning to do a table representing my own house/street, in an appropriate scale; 1/50.

That's an easy to work with conversion scale, and when gaming with miniatures on bases, the slightly larger scale will not look out of place. And then there's the inevitable scale creep in miniatures, and the 30/32mm minis we see more and more, will also be more and more in scale with the terrain. Plan for the future, I say! :D

It does mean that there will be less buildings on the table, but the proportions are much more realistic, so it adds to the feel and look of the game. IMHO that is of course...

Besides; if you like the idea of gaming in a modern/near future urban setting, you simply won't get away with two storey buildings being the highest structure, unless you also like suburbia. ;)

I really like your project, and I'm curious to see where it goes from here. Have you considered also making the back half of the building, to exactly fit against it? You'd have a massive building for the center of the table, or two half as massive builsings for the sides of the table. It's what I hope to do when I finally get to build my project...

Also; what finish are you going for? Concrete? Or a more polished look, like glass and plastic?

Oh, and don't be alarmed by any cry of 'Insanity!', as you clearly are not half as crazy as these two nutters: lol

Wow, that is some insane terrain!

I've made some progress on the table; it's almost good enough for gaming.
