Well, another "Build something" competition, and another attempt to fail...

Next years Gubbspel Galore (local miniature convention here in Gothenburg) has a Maritime theme. And, since Alex has released some lovely local fishermen, my plan is to do a post-apocalyptic scenario based on the infamous western archipelago. The two rivaling families Utbult and Inbult will battle for fishing rights, new women and the holy grail among us west coasters; The recipe for Pickled Herring (believed to cure cancer and ensure world peace).
So, here's what I'm roughly basing my boat on:

It's important that the hull is ribbed. Mostly due to the fact that I'm a losy cutter and it enables me to cheat a bit and hide the worst mistakes ;)
It will also be alright for my pulp setting, although the indoor engine might be a bit unrealistic when it comes to size.

I've already done the basis and hope to post some pics here further on when the boat nears its completion :)

Cheers Silent. It almost looks like my boat, which looks like this before renovation next year :)

I also built some on my entry yesterday. I hav some real big issues with getting the stern in order. At the moment its flat, but I want it to be more "boatlike". Need to find a solution someday...
Used the Profs minis as a comparison for size, just to give you folks a sense of size.
(I'm sorry for the blurry and grey image, but my phone has cataract)

I've also decided to do a couple of islets and maybe some post-apocalyptic debris, such as a skeleton in a life jacket and such :)

Avoiding the bumping, but my grand plan is to build an island based on Böttö, which isone of my favourite islands in the Archipelago over here.
It's an old light house facility which has been operating since the early 1800 (there are a lot of lighthouses here due to the large amount of islets dotting coast) and I've always been fascinated how they lived with their livestock sometimes snatched by the sea (and apparently, during a violent storm a wave almost took two kids who played in the kitchen that faces the north sea).
It looks like this:

I'm stuck on how I should build the lighthouse though :/

Pringles tube?
Doesn't work out that well :(
The Hull is large at the top and fairly smaller in the bottom (From 50mm to 30), so I need both that reduction and the "Swosh" at the end :)

We immediately begin preparing for the new Post-Archipelagoptic range of miniatures.

Promising start, I’m very curious about the further progress.

Awesome! I thought this project was dead in the water. On the contrary: Undead in the water!

I knew that there was a gothenburgian in you deep down, G! Lol

We immediately begin preparing for the new Post-Archipelagoptic range of miniatures.

Promising start, I’m very curious about the further progress.

And we do look forward to it! And on a note, the Hammer mini will be used as "Petter-Nicklas Hammarsson", the last of the children at the "Kollo*" at Björkö. Nowadays known as the child cannibal leader, and as far as we can tell, the only one alive that knows the recipe for pickled herring Tjolaholm-style.
Ladies and gentlemen, we witness the naissance and coinage of new wargaming nomenclature: Post-Archipelagoptic.
I always strive to please :D
The title "Herring Jävlar!*" might also tickle you ;)

@Jim
Cheers! I really hope to finish this, and not end up with another wizard tower ;)

I'm very tempted to add the elements from the nude beach. But I'm torn between doing naked zombies, or if it should be a sex crazed cult consistibg of really old people. The first one I got minis for, while the second is extremely tempting with strap-ons on wheel chairs...

*Kollo is an old summer activity when parents in the city dumped their children on a remote island so they would appreciate nature, get new friends and re-enact lord of the flies.

*"Herring Jävlar!" is a reference to the very populaire curse "herrejävlar". It's a well used curse, but it really peaks with a gothenburgian dialect.
