Anybody try the Colonial SAGA rules from Wargames Soldiers and Stragedy? Wondering if they would play well for the NZ Wars.

That is an amazing cover picture!!!

I hope you don't mind, Smith, but I'm so excited I couldn't resist posting about it right away on my Dressing the Lines blog:

For me I think Angus Mcbride will always be my favorite illustrator by a mile. But the artwork on that cover is really very good. Will have to keep an eye out for more work by Raffaele Ruggeri.

Raffaele Ruggeri is, I think, my favourite Osprey artist who is still with us. He has illustrated several books with an African colonial theme for them. I have four of his: Two on Italy's involvement in Abyssinia (1896 and 1935), and two on East Africa ("Warrior Peoples" and the Great War one).

A little off the pace, but I just noticed the Osprey blog advent calendar had more NZ Wars art on it:

That's another fantastic piece of art, Smith.

It really shows the unusual shawl order uniform of the New Zealand Armed Constabulary & militia.

Ruggeri's figures remind me of Troiani in their realism, especially the faces, and also the texture of the clothing.

This book is going to be fabulous even for just for the pictures alone.

Ah the Lily Savage Battalion in all its glory.

Oddly enough it's roles reversed these days, there can hardly be an Maori family anywhere that doesn't sport at least one transgendered member.
