My (LOTHS) Pirate Ship Conversion -WIP
« on: December 04, 2012, 11:14:16 PM »
I recently noticed that one of my sons toys (that he never played with and was an old hand-me down anyway) looked ripe for my LOTHS on a shoestring project, i forgot to take picture of it before i got to work on it so, here's one from the net(mine was without the mast)

For those that dont know thats Iggle Piggle from CBBC's "In the night garden" and you can pick one up for about £4 on ebay. So having a rough idea in mind i ripped the wheels and rudder off and set to work with my craft knife

I purchased a small sheet of ply and some dowel from my local hobby shop

and found some plastic strip whilst walking to the shop which i though might work as a railing around the deck

[/img]

at this stage i thought its not looking too bad for a grand outlay of less than £3

[/img]

I then drew some decking onto the ply and scratched planking onto the sides (after giving them a slight sanding)

[/img]

a quick undercoat and the addition of a prow made from an old paint brush

[/img]

added some stairs/steps and a hatch

[/img]

to finish it off i added some more railings using the last of the plastic thing i had found, some bits from the bits box, raised the sides of the prow slightly, fashioned a spar for the mast from a wooden BBQ skewer, replaced the rudder(after reducing it in size)

[/img]

it just needs a little tidying/filling and a decent paint job and i'll probably add a ships wheel & anchor at some point. Im now contemplating buying a few Iggle Piggle boats off e-bay and seeing what else i can cobble together.

That's a great bit of work!

It's amazing to see the original, and then what you've done with it... Amazing!  :-*
