I have never seen those old bikes painted so well, incredible.  The beakies in gray camo are amazing as well, I may have to add camo touches to my beakie Space Sharks.

The Field Police are terrific as well.  There's not many who remember them.  I was never sure if they were really a chapter or perhaps the brain seed of later chaplain models.  Do you know of any official fluff on Field Police?

I always assumed they were similar to the present Military Police/Provosts.

A space marine would probably be more effective than a commissar.  Guardsmen would find them inspirational and scary.

They are deffinately not Chaplains, since on the page where they are presented there is also colour scheme for Chaplains.

I love this - awesome nostalgia trip, and very well painted too! It's like looking at an old White Dwarf 'Eavy Metal article.  :-*

I think there's hardly any official fluff and as far as I know there's only one specific Field Police related part of a model ever made which is a bike rider arm with the symbol on it.

As they are I never really considered them part of my chapter but not a chapter in itself either, maybe you could see it as a larger force that every chapter supplies marines to. But with the limited fluff I guess they are what you make of them 8)

Actually, in the beginning I always thought that the Field Police shown was just from a black armoured chapter, since Chaplain and Medic (!) is also shown in black. So I would think the Field Police would have chapter coulered armour and then red helmet with the special stripes on it.

Searching the web I can see, that I am not the only one who thinks like this.

Also in this link below, som people have some interesting theories into what the Field Police did and was.

That's a cool take on it as well and I'm sure it would look very good too! I never really noticed the black medic before because I had already seen the other medic colour schemes from the compendium, but now that you mention it it's quite striking. I do like the look of black field police though and them being quicker to paint was an important factor in deciding to paint some field police in the first place. I do intend to add one field police biker to my bikers at some point and he'll be black like the rest of my field police 8)

You've got me tempted to add a field police unit to my beakies now, I do like the look of them.

Well, since I am painting up Blood Angels I think my Field Police will be black too, and I perticular like the idea of Field Police on bikes, I might use that idea too.

Seems to me that the bottom row are variants of the Crimson Fist helmet. Therefore, power armour would remain the same colour.

I don't know, wouldn't that make all medics black?

Going from the material in the compendium on Chaplains and Medics, where they have respectively black and white armour plates to denote their position and have their own special symbols of the Skull and Caduceus or more correctly the rod of Asclepius (the medic symbol) together with other armour pieces in their chapter colours. I'd infer (abeit backwards) that that would also apply to field police with their own symbol and characteristic red helmets.
