Back of Beyond Japanese Army figures?
« on: December 11, 2012, 05:15:24 AM »
Hey just picked up the World at war and back of beyond combo and I was wondering where people get figures for a Back of Beyond Japanese army? Or do you just wing it?
Cheers,

In a pinch I think you could use the Copplestone Warlord Chinese-just paint the uniforms khaki.

If you talking about Japanese 1933+ you can just use WW2 Japanese.  Their uniforms changed very little. Just avoid ones in shorts or leafy camoflage from the Island campaigns.

I am more looking at 1918-1933 when they were trying to take over Centeral Aisa and fight the red Russians siding with the Whites.

I produce a good range of Japanese Imperial Army, about 23 different figures.

They were made with the WW2 period in mind but perhaps they can be ok for your project.

Some figures might be on the blog only as the site has most but not the rifles B blister.

Pulp Figures does a very nice set of Japanese naval infantry for that period:

Interesting.

Eventhough the Tsuba miniatures wear damasks rather than the more de reigeur putttees, I would personally go with the former.

To me, in a BoB setting, "too modern" is more anathema than "too old fashioned".

Hi Cuprum,

What would be needed to convert Copplestone's Reds to Japanese?

Thanks,

James

Principally footwear and personal equipment. Boots you can readily fix with a file, paintwork and or putty. The personal equipment is a more daunting prospect as most of the Copplestone range come with a miscellany of bandloiers of various types which look most un-Japanese. I suppose it all depends on how anal yopu are about these things and I readily confess to being so, at least in this instance.
