...we were only just talking about using these ideas for FFL games as well!....as I have long unused lead for that period (which is where the Rif Arabs come from in may AAR).
The Tuaregs would be very similar, the same really, in the way they behave in the Rif War. A point for FFL games is that Legion casualties would need to be accounted for. I'd look at actual loss rates and possibly reduce the overall fire effect of the irregular forces if that seems appropriate to get the required loss rate. You could also introduce ideas of a 'kill' not being removed from the table but instead counting as a 'wound' or something along these lines. The Legion off course would carry off its wounded but leave its dead. This would all be handled in the Force Morale table.....as the Legion would be only 20-30 figures strong you could handle this extra fidelity.
I think it would work very well for the FFL where you have asymmetric forces at play and also would do for Afghan Wars and even the Sudan....lots of opportunities. The advantage of the early 20th century conflicts is you get to introduce mortars, MMG, field guns and vehicles.
The Rif War has all that and more but what ever takes you fancy I think. CoC would do a pretty good job of it...Arab Revolt....eh Lawrence?
