Project Sutton
« on: 21 December 2012, 07:48:38 AM »
So, with a nod to the man himself, the beginnings of my Warlord Chinese project.

I've acquired the figures ; Copplestone mostly but with some Pulp Chinese bandits and OG Russians which i'll use as White mercenaries.

1. Officers Mounted* and on foot
2. 2 x 10 Infantry (plus buglars/standard bearers to mix in)
3. 10 Dare to Die troops
4. 10 Assault troops
5. 9 Cavalry (* plus one mounted Officer to go with these)
6. Executioners
7. 2 x HMGs
8. Mortar
9. Field Gun
10. 14 Chinese Bandits (i'll build these up to a 20 man unit)
11. 2 x 10 White Russian mercenaries

I think that looks like a decent start ...

and the first batch of bandits

I'm using Setting the East Ablaze for the rules. Naturally  :)

Splendid!  But what about a 'Sutton Skunk' to round it all off?

The Chinese Infantry (marching) were donated [thanks Dave!] and as they're part painted i think i'll start on that unit with a standard bearer and an Officer once i've highlighted the last few bandits ..

I'm going to do these in batches of 5s and keep nibbling away at them.

Now, to base on regular troops on 1p or 2p coins? The hell with the expense!

Strangely enough, mine arrived today, along with 9 Bengal lancers.  And a Christmas card from across the pond  ;)

Ahh - thank you. Any UK stockists for Company B?

Those Russians of mine might also form the core of a Red project. Switch the Standard, use different Command figs and BoB's your uncle.

If so, i want some Bogeymen with them. Any thoughts on what figures to use for the Chekka? I read somewhere that they were in black but i could be wrong

Brigade also stocks Company B's stuff, as well as the Peers book of army lists for BOB, and is (I think) the only company that makes Indian Lancers.

Northstar seems to have some sort of arrangement with Brigade?

Hi Irish,

We're using Setting the East Ablaze rules with army lists (where needed) from Chris Peers's Contempitable Little Armies [i've just borrowed the WI magazines Aug/Sept 2002 Nos 179 & 180 which have the lists]

Cheers

James

Wargames Command Post stocks Company B vehicles, to include the Sutton Skunk, FYI.
