As some of you may have noticed I have just released the new Gear Krieg book (

An endeavor like this is always a good opportunity to visit old projects again, for me it was the perfect excuse to finally build a Soviet Early-L-2 walker.
The model is based on a DP9 General Early Walker and a Zvesda Katyusha.
The Soviet L-2 lend lease walker was based on the M11A3 General Early walker. The BM-13 launcher system featured 16 tubes and was named after Mikhail Isakovsky’s popular wartime song Katyusha (“Katie”).
This walker mounted multiple rocket launcher delivered a huge amount of explosives over a target area quickly when compared to conventional artillery, but suffered from lower accuracy and a long reload time. The mobility of the walkers gave them the advantage to be relocated before being attacked by counter-battery fire.
