Greenstuff Moulds?
« on: December 26, 2012, 03:59:29 PM »
Hi,

I'm working on some equipment and heads for conversions and need many copies. Is it possible to make GS moulds to cast metal?

Out of curiosity I just kept a lighter near a piece of dried green stuff.
Seeing how it almost instantaneously caught fire itself, I'd say:
NO. find something else.

With a LOT of messing about you could possibly make a decent enough two part mould that would be usable with resin or plaster but greenstuff is really only ok for push moulds.  Some of the RTV silicons are suitable for metal but they tend to be the more expensive ones and again it would be fiddly to get a good two part mould to cast 3d weapons.

I'm surprised that the gs caught fire. Considering people make molds of them Using heat and pressure during the vulcanisation process. Not suitable for molding metal though

what you need is Siligum... two part stuff for making moulds and then use your greenstuff to press into the mold... I've done a few thinks like this for conversions and any greenstuff I have left over goes into one of the molds... I've also been making some security lights by the same method...

this isn't a great example, but I haven't posted anything about the heads...
