Pulp Me Sideways! AAR 1st game of Pulp Alley
« on: December 27, 2012, 02:26:30 PM »
We had our first Pulp Session and tried out the newly released Pulp Alley rules (http://pulpalley.com/). As this was our first go at it to get a feel for the rules we just played a random game Vs the campaign I have been working on in my earlier "Pulp Me Sideways" thread.

There were 4 of us and we each made up a league:

* Herr Flick and suspiciously Nazi sounding flunkies
* Phruk Yoo and his ruffians
* Biggles and assorted misfits
* Senior Ferrari and the Special Friends of Rick

We followed the scenario set up guide and each placed scenery on the board - ended up with an edge of town down one end and desert and crashed plane down the other separated by an oasis. Plot points where then rolled up and placed on the board - note the one in the middle of the oasis and the one on top of the Egyptian Pharaoh statue. Photography at times is blurred as shots were taken in the heat of the action...

First 3 shots are set up from L, R and far side:

Senior Ugartee and M.P. Fortee (from Herr Flick's league) advance and MP gets set to hose down anyone that approaches the plot point in the palms but gets an "Out of Ammo" card played on him that seals his fate for the rest of the game. With initiative working against him he is mercilessly cut down and never recovers...

Indianna Jones saves the day as Doctor Livingstone is almost stung by a scorpion surprise on one of the plot points...

IMG_0653 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Herr Flick and Mein Barr advance to the statue to attempt to capture the plot point as Phruk Yoo's league move on the oasis and the statue. Senior Ugarte can be seen down and out under the palms as his charge to capture the plot point ended in point blank lead...

Carnage at the plane tail wreckage plot point as Count Stransky and Mein Kampf valiantly hold off Ferrari's minions...

IMG_0655 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Back at the statue Herr Flick has attempted to climb it and fallen off. Mein Barr is rushed by Keeper of The Throne. M.P. Fortee and Ugarte can be seen in the background where they stay thanks to rubbish recovery rolls throughout the game...

Ferrari steps in to take the situation to hand and shoots Mein Kampf down...

IMG_0657 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Herr Flick finally makes it to the top of the statue to claim the plot point!

Mein Barr is finally overcome by multiple opponents at the base of the statue.

Back in town and Short Time makes quick work of the Cobra surprise at the plot point in the dome..

IMG_0660 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Mein Kampf recovers to hold off Senior Ferrari long enough for Stransky to grab the booby trapped chemicals and make a run for it off the board..

IMG_0661 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Phruk Yoo makes it to the main plot point in the middle of the oasis now if he can just make his roll...

IMG_0662 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Alas others have better ideas and he gets stalled here as his fortune changes..

IMG_0663 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Covered by his men Phruk makes his way off the board with the ancient idol prize

Despite having a clear shot at Phruk that could save the day, Ferrari chooses to settle old scores and instead turns on Mein Kampf for a parting shot...

All in all an amusing first game -Herr Flick will return!

All of your terrain and models look great :-* I really like the paint job you did on the water piece. We've been trying to figure out how to get a good water tile can you tell us how you did that? Also the crashed plane looks fantastic. Actually I'm going to leave it at everything looks amazing  :-* :-*

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun playing Pulp Alley. :D

Great AAR!  The water is it the realistic water effects?  This looks like the game was a lot of fun. Out of ammo really hurts!

It's always great to see games being played, and I really appreciate you giving our new Pulp Alley game a try.

We had a few folks drop in and play a game with Mila tonight, so you should be seeing a bat rep from her before too long.

THANKS!
