Red Box Games and Ebob Men-at-Arms
« on: March 28, 2013, 05:00:42 PM »
These models are the start of my human fantasy faction and as you can see I've gone for a traditional medieval appearance. The spear-men are Ebob Scottish Pikemen and the others are from Red Box Games. I think they mix together well-enough! So 11 models painted in March, bringing 2013's overall total to 48. That's roughly one model painted every two days! More pictures on my blog.

Looking good  :D

What colours did you use for the gambeson? I'm always interested in finding new ways to paint that sort of khaki/creamy/sandy colour - never get it quite right  :?

Those minis work great together!

How do you do your bases? They look good for dungeon crawls or wilderness skirmish.

Fine sand drybrushed with greys. The 'moss' is a mix of Woodland Scenics Fine Turf Burnt Grass/PVA/Water/Vallejo Sepia wash applied with a cocktail stick. When dry give a drybrush with a yellow-brown colour. The idea, as you point out, is to be able to use them in dungeon crawls and above-ground games.

So you pretty much turn the turf into a paste? I will have to give that a try. Right now I just glue it down with pva and it looks kinda boring.

These guys look great together and I really like the paint jobs. I also have some Ebob minis, I really should get around to painting them. A small suggestion, perhaps a light black wash on the metal, example: the Ebob Pikemen's helmet looks a little flat (ignore my suggestion if you prefer the metal to look that way though).

Are you going to paint any more?

Cheers,
 Damien

Nicely painted Fipps!  I always wanted to see how ebob fared next to Red Box.

Keep painting!   :D
