That's going to be hard to reproduce, base with Citadel Foundation 'Charadon Granite', wetbrush with Polly S Fantasy 'Gungy Brown' (long unavailable), final light drybrush with Reaper Prp-paint 'Stone Grey'.


Pretty much any dark-medium-light progression will work, so long as you use similar colors.  I almost never use the same thing (by the time I paint another set I've usually forgotten what I used last time.)  Just experiment, you'll find something that works for you.

I think I'M gonna replace grungy brown (because the only person I can buy it from is in the states and wants very high postage) with vallejo us field drab - I *think* they look kind of the same.

These Stone Giants were a lot of fun, I'm still looking for a suitable pet Cave Bear for them.  After these guys, I have another band of about a dozen Hill Giants from various manufacturers waiting in the wings... though let's hope it is not the end of the new year before I can get to them!
