Cool Blog find, Chechen game
« on: January 31, 2013, 03:51:11 AM »
Surfing through various blogs I came upon this site with some awesome game pics, at first I thought they were real pictures of a combat zone; the terrain and pictures are that good. Apparently, they are from a game during Crisis 2010 (therefore apologies if these pics have already been commented on). The game depicts a conflict in Gronzy, Chechnya. The rules used were the Breaking News rules, a free modern rule set that can be downloaded here: http://www.dadiepiombo.com/breaking.html

Here are some pics and the link to many more if anyone is interested:

Simply amazing.

Cheers,

 Damien

Amazing images  :o and what looks to be a nice simple FREE ruleset.

Thanks for pointing this out.  :)

A game!  Wow, I thought this was a diorama.  What an excellent game!  :o

I assumed it was 1/48th or bigger until I read it was using Red Star miniatures.

Good find, thanks!

Anytime boys, we need to share these little nuggets of gold when we find them. As for the rules, they do look pretty cool, I haven't played them but have read them and do like their mechanics.

Cheers,

It is old,

it was already posted here...

I saw this at Salute a couple of years ago...

The rules have been out for quite some time....

the guys are posting here too...

Actually the vehicles are 1/48...

Hot Water has been discovered!  :D sorry to be sarcastic, but I was quite surprised people had not yet seen this. And I suppose that... you have not seen their Afghanistan table... their Baltic Republics table...  ;D

As for the rules I was not really happy with them even if I did a bit of input on them back in time. The author Lorenzo Sartori is a friend, but he is not an expert on modern combat. IMHO Force on force are better, or, like Mataksihi, you can adapt Crossfire. I found breaking news too easy and too linked to the assumed truth of modern operations (and not real operations). Just my two cents.

Still a fantastic looking game, however old it is. I spent a lot of money with Red Star miniatures after seeing this.

And even more with Empress when I saw the Baltic Republics game at Salute last year!

Never knew about this settings from Sartori. That's good to see such a good table from him, that's good.

Lorenzo wrote the rules, the guys at Red Star did the table! Little confusion here. Tow different entities. Last April the guys at Red Star were using Force on Force.
