The profiles are pretty clear.
Not my problem - I lament the lack of profile variants and different rosters. I wouldn't mind using these rules with traditional fantasy models, but the rules give very little support on how to make your own scenarios and profiles. Examples are given and it's easy to cook something up, but there's no guidance on how to balance. What's a good ratio for a 12 dice hero with a few 2+2 dice henchmen? This have to be measured by experience and as a new player, with only theoretical knowledge of the game and no actual games played, it's hard to gauge. This is easier in points based games.

Right, I'm getting 'em!
That you should, mate! I'm sure you'll like them!

I see your point. All I can say is the GM should be adjusting things up a bit if needed with the scenario
And it is guidelines for the GM I feel are lacking. I just bought the book, have never played the game, and want to put on a game for a few mates. We rarely have the opportunity to play (not a single game last year, for instance) so needless to say we don't really want to "waste" a session on balancing trial and error. I can adapt a scenario from the included campaign, no sweat, so I'm not seeking a solution to an actual problem I'm experiencing.

I understand CROM is mainly an engine to run the included campaign, but there's room to make your own scenarios so why not include a section with pointers and advice for the GM on how to set up a scenario? It would be really helpful for newcomers to the game. Something to get the ball rolling. Oh well, enough about that! =D

Just downloaded and had a quick glance. The game has a very simplistic yet elegant mechanic which I look forward to trying out on the tabletop. From the quick look I had it seems to be a pretty intuitive set, which always leads to great games!  I don't currently have a great deal of minis suitable for recreating the classic Howard/Conan vibe, but some 'normal' fantasy stuff will do in the meantime. The 'Death Dealer' card made me think of the band The Gates of Slumber (who are also Frazetta nuts) and their song of the same name:

I have actually supped ale with mainman Karl, which was rather epic in itself.

Apologies for the thread hijacking  :D

I really liked CROM when I tried it at BLAM.  I'm pretty sure the author even promised me a signed copy if he ever released it, but perhaps that only went for ' in physical form'.  lol

Anyway I found it a refreshing take on skirmish gaming. A highly cluttered field.

Free copy for the crazy Viking sorted, spelling mistake might be fixed later :( (I checked the bloody thing again and again)
Thanks for both the heads up.

welcome to the darkside, Mr Fipps! I need to pick up a piece of scenery at PAW and then I'll run a scenario for you :)

I will find it and fix it. Once I've produced the scenario booklet I'll add update the original too. Be a few weeks most likely, there's other stuff going on at the moment.
