Pennisular War French Skirmishing
« on: January 04, 2013, 08:21:19 AM »
Does anyone know any good Pennisular War French Skirmishing? Im looking at doing a couple of small units for some games of Sharpe Practice.

I am assuming you are doing it in 28mm?

I've just been roped into a similar project using the 40mm Perry figures...

Alban Miniatures designed by Richard Ansell, I think they were commissioned specifically for Sharp Practice. He sculpted the Sharp and Harper as seen on the front cover of the rule book.

I have always liked Front Rank Miniatures and their Napoleonic range is pretty extensive.

Yeah it's 28mm, i was just about to update my post saying that. I will check out Alban.

I've seen the Front Rank and sadly i would need to stick to Front Rank if i went with them as they don't fit with most others. The guys in my club have some Front rank French but im just trying to see if there is some French Line skirmishing that i have missed from other ranges.

Alban are beautiful but very small and incompatible with other ranges so caution and further research needed for clarity.
Perhaps contact them and ask for a sample for comparison

I use a mix of rifles from Foundry, Perry, Offensive and Front Rank vs French dismounted dragoons from Brigade and Perry (Plastic) and French Perry Infantry. I think they work well together. A quick photo from my cell phone. Not much detail but it hopefully give you an idea of size. From left to right: Alban, offensive, Foundry, Front Rank, Perry

I believe the Perrys are just about to release a pack of 6 skirmishing French in pre 1812 regulation uniforms (see their metal workbench page)
