Bru's Heroquest stuff (update 5/6/13)
« on: January 06, 2013, 11:11:43 PM »
 Hi all,

Been a while I know, but I put my brushes down for a while, due to mainly a total block on painting, just couldn't face it for well over a year.

Sold off alot of my surplus minis as well, as I think the mass was getting me down, not knowing where to start next.

Well I've gone right back to the start and decided to finish of my own HQ stuff, and add some of the D&D boxed game stuff to the playing field.

This thread will have anything and everything I decide I can use in the game.

Hope you enjoy it, and please bear with me as I'm a bit rusty with me brushes.
(Might add a few pics of stuff already painted too, from before I packed up)

In fact I'll start off with the converted Heroes from before I stopped.

Plus the Witchlord I converted at the same time.

Now onto the stuff I have just begun to paint in the last few weeks

 :)

Fantastic stuff :-* This was the game that got me into this hobby and I still love Heroquest. This makes me want to paint my stuff again if only I could get the horrible paint jobs off them that I did when I was younger  :(

I admired these over on Frothers - great paint jobs!

Hope I get mine up to scratch like this one day.

Jesus! That is some nice painting not to mention the conversions! The barbarian, the elf and the witchlord especially.

Great stuff,

Great to see these old gems in a more modern color scheme.
Nice work.

I have always loved HEROQUEST as this was my first miniature game.

And your rendition of the classic miniatures is just beautiful.

Hope to see more of your work soon.

Thanks for sharing.
I know you're too old to play with toy soldiers. So give them to me... NOW!

If you call that kind of painting a little rusty I'd like to see what it looks like when it's all fresh and clean! I think you've done a terrific job here. Though I'ver never played HQ I do own a few orc models and it's great to see what have achieved with them.

Do you plan to leave the bases bare? From a gaming point of view it makes absolute sense but actually the level of your brushworks practically begs for a nice base to go along with the great painting.

Thanks guys.

It's really nice to have some free time again in which I feel like painting and am really enjoying these without any pressures or deadlines.

Personally I love Heroquest and still play from time to time so will continue with the minis as well as chucking some newer minis and non HQ ones in the mix.

Did a few more conversions that will see some paint in the near future they just need a bit if tweaking first.

The pressure of a new job and my final commissions I think were what finished me off so to vent my creative side I built a full size Ghostbusters proton pack and film uniform for conventions and charity work so if you see a Ghostbuster with the name Odinson on his overalls come over and say hi.

Nice to paint when and what I feel like again.
Not that I didn't enjoy the commission work it just got on top if me a bit. Lol

Dunno about the bases yet. Would like to do something with them but as each room is a different colour on the board they may stay plain grey. Saying that I might add some brick lines to them..... Lol see.... Just dunno yet.

Nice work, especially when I think how awful those minis are! You make them look good.

I'm impressed with the LOVELY painted job you lavished on those minis. You've transformed them into very special little treasures. VERY WELL DONE!

Nice job Bru!  :-* How about just texturing the top of the bases with very fine sand, paint it all dark grey and then drybrush lightly. Would look more finished, but still discrete.
