The crypt is (in the better sense!) gloomy and creepy

Agreed! Like the subterranean feel and dark tones...

I've seen this in the flesh and its very nicely done.

Thanks a lot guys! Much appreciated.

As far as updates go, there will be a fair bit done to it over the weekend (I have an extra day off next week I hope to make the most of!) and I am currently working on a few interior pieces: three sarcophagi and other bits and pieces... as well as the exterior.

To give you guys an idea, the crypt part is the interior of a barrow. A hill is going to built around it with a cemetery on top. The entrance to the crypt will be a small mausoleum.

Phew!

I've wanted to do something similar for an underground temple beneath eastern medieval ruins for a pulp game. Do update us on how you put it all together and make it work...

Ditto!

The sarcophagi are looking spookily real. It's been illuminating watching him work and figuring out all these creative ways to go about making different aspects of the diorama. Definitely long forward to seeing the finished product (not to mention my clear lounge room floor) again!  ;D

Thanks all!

Guy, you probably missed it while you were building your own amazing terrain! :P

Here's another quick update. PP mentioned some sarcophagi... here they are...

The sarcophagi will actually be on the other side of the wall to the shrine, but that is for another update :)

Really very nice - the crypt looks very dank and old.  :)

Did you scratch build the sarcophagi?

Thanks, lads!

@Furt: Yeah mate, I've built them out of foam, styrene and cardboard! The more elaborate one has some GW bits stuck on to save me from sculpting :) Want one?

This is brilliant Christian. Your pj completes it wonderfully well. I do like the muted palette and hints of green.
