My West Wind London Thugs and Mob (More Photos Added)
« on: January 04, 2013, 07:45:22 PM »
I've been lurking for several years, drawing tons of inspiration and techniques from the posts here. (Usually I hang out on another forum under the same pseudonym.) For the first time, though, I finally decided to show off some of my latest figures. I'm pleased with them because I'm getting closer and closer to the look I've been aiming for. I hope you all like them.

For a while now, I've been working on figures from West West's London Thugs and London Mob packs in the Gothic Horror line. It's no secret that I'm a WW junkie! Over all, I love these figures. Here are a few of the latest I've finished. While working on them, I tried to do more striking highlights than I've done in the past. Eventually, I'll go back and rework the bottom figure's highlights. More photos are on my blog chronicling the gaming (mis)adventures of me and my son along with whatever other silliness I come up with http://ordinarygaming.blogspot.com/

Nice, crisp brushwork. :)

The Guys do have a certain flair to them...nice color choices & brushwork. I especially like the intimidating one in the center. FINE WORK!

Thanks, guys. The center one is my favorite too...for the moment.  :D  I'm working on an old coot from the set, painting him up as a raging drunken old man. I can't wait to finish him!

A couple more of the WW figures I've recently finished. The grump fellow I did a couple years ago, but reworked him the other week. I realized that when I paint, I have a ton of lights lit along with my OTT lamp. Great for seeing all the subtle colors. But whenever and wherever I play a game, the light is never very good. Plus my eyes are getting older. So brighter highlights seem to work better for me on the table more than they used to in the past. My son doesn't have that problem. Nor does he fall asleep in his chair like I do!  lol

Here you go, guys. A few more shots are on the blog. And thanks for the comments. I appreciate them and am always trying to improve.

Superb painting, especially the various shades of black fabric! I always struggle with that a lot.
