Your table keeps looking better and better.

The new Scotia Grendel pieces really add alot, and the road leading up to the tomb is awesome!  :-* :-*

Hey, did that head come with the flat bit on top, or is that something you added?

THANKS!

Looking good - I like this a lot

Those buildings are particularly impressive.  The shot over the rooftops is very atmospheric
No dear, they are not toys, they are models

thanks guys.

Dave the "road" is the 3x3 Hirst blocks from the moulds I created and yes the 2 Pharaoh heads from the aquarium shop have a flatish bit on top - like they should have had a head piece but it was broken off at the base.

OK so to our set up:

3 leagues this time (2 return from AAR1 and one new one):

* Biggles & assorted adventurers
* Fu Manchu and his Celestial Allstars
* Herr Flick & his suspiciously Nazi sounding flunkies

Scenario:

The Arkham Daily Bugle has sent Miss Prawn renowned investigative reporter to Egypt to track down an (injured) officer who alone knows the secret location of a (bloodstained) map that must not fall into evil hands else the lives of many will be lost. Biggles and his adventurers will escort Miss Prawn to the location to interview the officer whilst the nefarious Fu Manchu attempts to acquire the map for his own purposes. Herr Flick just wants to get it all back to Berlin for further investigation... roll title scene somewhere deep in central Egypt...

Smash & Grab with 5 plot points:

1 Bloodstained Map (main one)
2 Injured Officer
3 Water Line
4 Purple Death Powder (I like the sound of that one :P)
5 Lost Gold

While the rules typically have 5 plot points I like to mix it up for my players so add a few extra encounters and disappointments into the (d10) mix:

6 Encounter - 1d3 Cairo Constabularly (1d6 stats and health each) trying to prevent tomb raiders stealing antiquities
7 Encounter - 1d2 Scarab Swarms (1d8 health and 2d6 brawl each)
8 Encounter - 1d3 large scorpions (1d6 stats & health ea)
9 Nothing - keeps the players on their toes
10 Nothing - keep looking it's out there somewhere

So playing area scenery placed (including a few new pieces) and 10 Egyptian artefacts (see earlier Pulp Me Sideways! Thread) as plot points (locations circled)

IMG_0701ii by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

For the eagle eyed of you out there who have noticed (and read my first AAR) yes once again it appears a plot point (Ark of Covenant piece) has been placed on top of that Pharaoh statue's head! That is the main plot point (bloodstained map) which blew out of the injured officer's hand when he was shot and landed up there. Surely no one would be insane enough to attempt the perilous climb to grab it exposing themselves to fire from the entire board...

* Herr Flick's league starts at the encampment after a good night's sleep - Well Prepared: +1 Fortune card.
* Fu Manchu league starts at the end of the long pavement/road but whilst his men get there on time he gets lost along the way - Delayed: Fu character doesn't deploy to turn 2
* Biggles league has been here before and starts (once again) near great cover and the closest temple building - Familiar Area: increase initiative d type

Biggles wins the initiative (it's hard to beat an 8 when everyone else is rolling a d6's !) and advances into the cover of the temple and towards a roof top plot point..

IMG_0710 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

The Daego takes point to cover the league advance from the top of the stairs

IMG_0708 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Biggles sends The Stig, Chinless Wonder and The Captain up the left flank to the 3 palms plot point...

IMG_0709 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Fu Manchu's league make the best of things without their ageless leader and advance on several plot points:

IMG_0711 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Shortround reaches the plot point between the twin obelisks ahead of Herr Flick's men...

IMG_0713 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Mr Han reaches another plot point and gets surprised by a large scorpion on the rooftop!

View from the gateway across the oasis as Herr Flick's league advances through the encampment..

IMG_0715 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Back at the 3 palms and The Stig goes down as he attempts a plot point

IMG_0716 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Mein Barr and Mein Kampf advance (near some newly laminated Fortune/Plot decks) on Shortround and the plot point. In the background Mr Han despatches the scorpion...

IMG_0717 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Senior Ugarte dashes towards the edge of the oasis and Herr Flick advances on the Pharoah's head *cue wicked organ music * - surely he isn't going to attempt to climb it again not after last time!  M.P. Fortee covers their advance whilst Count Stransky arrives at a plot point - what the hell that's no treasure!

IMG_0719 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

3 Cairo Constabulary clamber out of the tent and shoot first arrest later! "Shouldn't that be the other way around?" Stransky asks raising an index finger in indignation!

IMG_0720 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Unscathed after the ambush Stransky decides to leave the meddling Constabulary and advance towards the plot point under the Anubi gates...

IMG_0721 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Fu Manchu finally enters the field to advance with Ming (The Mercilous) - Shortround is noticeably absent as he was viciously gunned down by Mein Barr and failed to recover slipping into unconsciousness between the obelisks...

Another captivating game. I'm almost finished painting my league - Captain Grant and his mercenaries for hire. My opponent is painting up a German Scientist gone bad, along with flunkies and Nazi war-bots. We'll be throwing some photos up her on the forum after our game next weekend (I hope)

The game looks like an absolute blast! I can't wait to play it myself. I may try some of random encounters as well.

Some action on the rooftops

Ms Prawn arrives on a plot point and is suddenly covered in scarabs!

IMG_0726 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Prawn fights to keep the scarabs at bay only to be gunned down from an opposite rooftop by Wu who looks out at the strange horizon -dust storm? locust plague?

IMG_0727 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Back at the obelisks Ming is shown no mercy and is gunned down by Mein Kampf who wonders how Ming ever got around in that chair?

IMG_0728 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Cut to the encampment as M.P. Fortee spins around and cuts down the first of the Constabulary

IMG_0729 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Meanwhile there's a rush on to the central plot point as Herr Flick and Mr Han race to the base of the Pharaoh's head...

IMG_0730 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Herr Flick succeeds in his peril rolls and deftly scales the statue (really in the heat of the day and in that leather trenchcoat?!) whilst Mr Han struggles and barely hangs on to the beard...

IMG_0731 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

M.P continues to hose down the coppers whilst Ugarte tactically retreats with the Purple Death Powder (!) in his possession - wait what's that another point behind those doors? Ugarte starts to work the lock. In the background desert haze Stransky can be seen attempting the plot point under the gate with Chinless Wonder lining him up...

IMG_0733 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Chinless Wonder surveys the lay of the land...

IMG_0737 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

then takes aim at a retreating Stransky and also wonders why Ugarte just doesn't use the side entrance to get the plot point?

IMG_0738 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Fu and Mein Kampf are locked in an extended close quarters shoot out - damn Fu and his Lucky Devil "no fortune cards can be played on me ner ner ne ner ner" ability!

Stransky vainly attempts to sidestep Chinless Wonder's shot

IMG_0742 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Ugarte abandons working the lock when he sees Stransky go down

IMG_0744 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Up on the Pharaoh's head Flick has the bloodstained map in his possession and takes a well earned break to stop and smell the date palms and enjoy the view of those battling below him..

IMG_0745 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

before legging it down the statue and towards the edge of the board...

IMG_0750 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

About the same time Wu (not Fu) gets down from the roof only to be flanked by Daego and peppered with Tommy Gun shells

IMG_0753 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Meanwhile Fu (not Wu - confused yet? Try doing this for a whole game! :) ) still engaged with Mein Kampf is flanked by Mein Barr but turns and guns him down...

IMG_0751 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

about the same time that M.P. Fortee drops Chinless

IMG_0752 by Pulpthulhu, on Flickr

Sensing victory as the last turn comes around before he makes it off the board Herr Flick:
1) Greedily hangs on the extend the game by an extra round fortune card
2) Plays the Parley Fortune Card so Fu (not Wu) and Biggles can't shoot at them allowing Flick's league to walk off the board with their goal and a few other bonuses (Purple Death Powder!) in tow...

Where will the bloodstained map lead them all next? What will Herr Flick do with the Purple Death Powder? Will Fu and Wu mess things up for everyone? Will Ms Prawn ever get her facelift? Will Biggles ever deploy behind anything other than a building? Will that strange dust storm ever reach the characters?

Find out in the next thrilling episode of "Pulp Me Sideways!"

Thanks Jet - was fun to play. You have the right idea getting opponents to paint up their leagues! Mine are a bit lazy so I am doing the lot - hence the work in progress partly painted minis being used...

Loads of fun - very light and loads of laughs!

Nice board, I like the plot point markers from your last post, the best bit in the report was your inclusion of the other encounter points, it gives us all something to borrow and use as our own, well at least with a passing reference to you as the originator,
Thanks for the report, keep them coming.
