Help please?
« on: January 13, 2013, 03:38:11 PM »
Medieval is not my period so I'm looking for some help, please.

I need a 28mm figure to represent a suit of armour in a country house, sort of 1920's/1930's. Can you recommend something similar to the picture here. I would like a full-face helmet and plate, preferably. I would prefer to buy from a maufacturer who sells single figures as I really only want two figures the same.

With a bit of conversion work one of the old GW Reiksgard knights might suffice though i'm not sure whether they're still available.

Failing that, the 3/4 armoured figure from Wargames Foundry's Elizabethan range reasonably matches the suit of armour depicted though you may have to do a conversion to add some legs.

There's also a dismounted curassier from WF who could work, again with a bit of conversion.

If conversions arent your thing and you didn't mind an earlier suit of armour there's a good one you could use from Perry Miniatures from their WOTR command sprue.

Hopefully there's some images under this text to illustrate the above......

Hope that helps

Foundry's War of the Roses range has a suitable figure in MED102

http://wargamesfoundry.com/historical_ranges/single_packs/medieval/wars_of_the_roses/armoured_men_at_arms_med102/?sector_id=

However, it comes in a pack and, as these are rather old figures and (I think) Perry sculpts, are rather 'dainty' compared to today's well-fed figures.  Might look like a harness made for a teenage crown prince....

I think a 3 pack from Steel Fist would be ideal for what you're looking for.

I might have an old GW figure from way back that may do the trick. It's in a box in another, bigger box somewhere in the attic awaiting some future ebay sentence. I will try and dig it out during the week. It may, however, bare little resemblance to how I remember it.

Oooh, those are nice. The good captain has probably come up with a better suggestion but I'll look it out anyway (that's what I get for ignoring the 'someone has posted while you were faffing on with your reply' message).

Many thanks to all of you for your suggestions.

Thanks, Elk101 for offering to search your roof, if it's anything like mine then it's always a problem finding anything up there!

I'm going to go with Captain Blood's suggestion of the 15C nobles from Steel Fist Miniatures.

Thanks again for all your help, much appreciated.

No bother at all! I do like those Steel Fist figs, I wonder how they size up with Front Rank?

I can't believe that no one has ever made a figure suitable for What you need without converting. How odd.
Theres more 28mm Superhero Madness at my blog, http://fourcoloursupers.blogspot.com/
And for Ultra-modern Wargaming check out Hotel Zugando at http://ultramoderngaming.blogspot.co.uk/

The reason I suggested the Steel Fist figures is because (nice as they are) the poses are quite static.
In short, several of them look just like standing suits of armour... So maybe you could say someone has made what Mad Lord Snapcase is looking for  :)
