25mm Fantasy Armies
« on: January 14, 2013, 10:41:00 PM »
Hello Everyone,
After a Very long time (17 years or so) I have not painted minis or anything.  I was pretty floored when I returned to get creative and I found out that RAl Partha, Wargames West and TSR were all out of Business.  I am the only one in my social circle who collect and paints minis.  I have talked my GF into a TSR Battlesystem battle once I get some of my collection painted.  I will Post some pics as i progress on my Lead (yes, real, Old School lead) armies.   ;D

You've got some COOL Old Friends there; AND sporting some equally cool paint jobs. VERY WELL DONE!

By the way, Ral Partha isn't out of business. They are now Iron Wind Metals...the Wiz Kids wouldn't give them back their name. Here's a link to their site:

Thanks for posting those.  I used to own one of those halberdiers. Wish I still did.  I've re-purchased a number of ral partha and grenadier figures lately.  Glad to see others are painting up the same.

You'll find most of the old models are available under a different alias.

Old = New
Ral Partha = Iron Wind Metals
Grenadier = Mirliton/Em4 Miniatures/(There's another one, but I forget!)
Metal Magic = Mega Minis

If you're into the old style miniatures, check out Dark Sword Miniatures, Thunderbolt Mountain and Otherworld Miniatures. There's quite a big following for old school models!

Welcome back! =D Some very nice stuff there!

You really should check out Mega Miniatures, their old Metal Magic/Hobby Products fantasy models are a steal at just above $1, and they ship for nought internationally. You being in the US, it'll be even cheaper (as they are US based).

Furthermore, Splintered Lights Miniatures (also US based) have some great giants and dragons that'll fit right in! They are old 25/28 mm models being sold as REALLY big 15mm. The wyvern is in scale with 80s Games Workshop wyverns, for instance.

Check out the "Cheap fantasy miniatures" thread at the top of this forum section, a lot of the listings there are not only cheap, but also contemporary (or older) than your models (and still in production). A few of the sellers are from the US.

Great job on the skellies, too btw!
