[40K] Ragnar Blackmane's great company
« on: January 06, 2013, 05:45:18 PM »
As I was a bit tired of painting the Chaos Marines anc cultists and I do not want to wait for Dark Angels, I decided to convert my old Ragnar's Space Wolves into a V6 army.
The Army looked like this in V2 :

The first step was to repaint the bases for I did not like the old ones anymore.

Then I modified the Grey Hunters pack to remove some Power weapons.

The next step that is in progress is to replace the bases of the Wolf Guard Terminator and the one of the Dreadnought.

After that, I wished to add additional packs ( Grey Hunters, Blood Claws, Long Fangs and WolfGuard Terminators) that I alreay owned and some vehicles ( Rhino / Razorback ).

That's my favourite army of all time! Mines still sitting on the shelf gathering dust! You've made a great job of them! I can't wait to see your new additions!!

They have shots for that.

Normally from the barrel of a Ork Stubba...

I don't know if you know, Forgeworld do a great upgrade pack for the normal termie box set to turn them into Wolfguard.

I always really liked 2nd Ed Space Wolves, and they were one of the armies I always wished I'd had!

If you're freshening up the models (and the brown bases look like a great update already), you might want to consider adding a bit of dark blue-grey lining to some of the bigger/more obvious armour panels too - specifically around the knees, the lower part of the Long Fang legs and areas like power fists. Maybe a little thinned GW Shadow Grey or P3 Greatcoat Grey would do the job (but not black, as it'd be too harsh). I think it would help bring out the sculpted detail a bit more, and provide a good compliment to all your lovely detail work on the pouches/skulls/markings/etc.

Anyway, thanks for sharing - it's not too often I get to see a really cool old-school army nicely painted in old-school colours. ;)

I modified two of them in order to add a Plasma Rifle and a Fusion blaster to the pack.
