SHC Nefarious 1 - Steam-powered hovercraft.
« on: October 13, 2013, 06:44:35 AM »
Hi All.

I have just unveiled on my blog the latest terror from the secret factories of the Nefarious Doktor Nefarious...

This monstrosity has 1,950 rivets and is based around a large computer fan.

I hope you like it.

Talky-stuff and buildy-stuff on the blog.

Again, at first glance at the title, no, Colonel! How could you divert your attention from your magnum opus! How could you allow, to languish, that great feat of...

Oh, I say, that is nice, isn't it? Well done!

"I really must try harder not to get distracted by side projects..."

*ahem* Of course, we've already admitted you need to keep your keen talents whetted by other ideas. Strange, each is superlative in its own way. Case in point!

I will say, it is yours, and it will be what you say it is. I still see a flyer. However, I suspect the crew will demand hazard pay on the catwalk anywhere near the sucking wind from that rotor.  ;)

Just to be picky, as a Victorian hovercraft, shouldn't it have a crinoline or a bustle?

Great work as usual Colonel!  :)

I love how in true VSF style you have ignored any desire to improve OH&S issues by putting a safety cage over that huge spinning fan that could cut a man to mincemeat if he slipped and fell on it.  lol

Cheers

Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly
down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red
Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture,
torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals.

Luvverly work, as usual sir!  :-*

That huge fan would make life interesting - and possibly brief - for any avian enemies that decide to attack the craft.  :D

Thank you, Gentlemen!

It's nice to have received such a great response on this one - I really wasn't sure if it was going to work.

This gives a whole new meaning to the term "chuffed"!

Now that is GREAT!! :o I must say a bustle or skirt would finish off nicely. Maybe some in the style of some sort of Victorian dresses, reinforced with steel frame/brackets.

I really do think I 'covered' the bustle; I suppose you could add crinoline and lace...

Hovercrafts do need 'skirts', though. The good Colonel suggests a skirt with the flare at the bottom. Slatted-armored floating panels might suggest it more forcefully, but I'd be happy with it the way it is. The usual 'fingered' rubber skirt would look too mod-dren.
