Oh my god, this is even better than the Dutch WWII table you made. AMAZING.

Astonishing, clearly many hours of painting effort, but the quality of the terrain really sets this off.  Brilliant.

Is the fur simply sprayed green over the top?

Yes water based and sprayed on,you can brush it in but in saturates the material and clogs the fur.The fur matts ive made dont crease because the paint finish is so fine and the material lends itself to allways laying out flat again.

I had massive trouble with saturation when I tried to make my own fur mat (I was not using a spray or aerosolized method). What spray method did you use? I understand that you tried an airbrush at first, but that was too expensive. Did you use some kind of alternate system? Or did you mean you still used an airbrush, but just found a way to use cheap paint?

Really appreciate any tips there.

Hi

If you look at the `Island` build thread you will see a green metal blob in one of the pics, thats was my compressor made from an old fridge motor many years ago i now have a proper one but either way spraying the fur is the cheapest and simplest method.Only ever use water based paint anything else clogs the fur.I buy  2.5ltr coloured emulsion from do it yourself shops this is great for a base colour (dont ever loose the shade reference off the tin) then a smaller 1ltr tin wil do some highlighting  and smaller mixes from your paint stand will do local fine detail.

This way of painting is quite weak(warning never let your cloth get wet) as you have to add water to thin the paint before spraying dilute to about 50/50 but it depends on your airbrush and commpressor running pressure. Also i have only ever used my old Badger airbrush this type:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Badger-Airbrush-spray-gun-set/dp/B000B8ICFQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1359047767&sr=8-2
Paint is pulled up the tube to the nozzle tip by the air passing over it from the pen,in other words you never have to clean out the pen as it is really only an air hose, the jars need cleaning only, great for a terrain airbrush(wouldnt use my best one for such heavy work and the cup wouldnt hold much paint anyhow).

Ok well have a read and ask if im not making it clear enough or in the future if i can be of any help i will pass on what i know.
Cheers Alan
