Goblins in Greek mythology game
« on: February 28, 2013, 05:40:46 AM »
Right now I'm on a Greek Mythology kick, ever since I got Victrix Athenians for Xmas, and I'm trying to put together some things for my heroes to fight.  I got skeletons, beast men, parts for centaurs....and GW goblins.  I've already painted up a few and made them look less medieval and more ancient.  I have not painted them green, they are more natural skin toned, kind of like LOTR orks.  What I'm stumped on is how to incorporate them into the Greek mythology setting.  I'm leaning towards possibly a race of men that worship a Titan and are constantly tuneling to Tartarus to free him/her.  That would expalin why they are short and hunched over.  Or they might be a completly diferent race created by the Gods before humans.  I would like to get some feedback on if this was a good or not.  I'll try and get some pictures posted if I can snag my wifes camera.

I did find this, which may even explain the origin of the word 'goblin': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobalos

Sounds like the Greeks get three potential variants there.

Red Orc, thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for.  Here are some pics of the figures I have painted so far.  The pictures were taken with my phone so sorry for the crappy quality.  C/C  welcome.
First up the Heroes

Children of the Hydra

and now the Kobaloi

The shields of the Kobaloi have the Spartan symbol painted on, in a crude imitation of the warriors.

Could you get Persian shields for the kobaloi? or peltast ones?
