I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

As with many others, the first, actually later, thing I noticed were the paddle wheels. If the vanes were hinged, I wonder if an explanation isn't possible.

Otherwise, I'm enchanted, though I believe the first Imperial submersibles were paraffin-fueled.

It would look great in space. Maybe not that practical there either but great nevertheless.

That is pretty cool. I would love to see it for real.

I think we got that, or rather 'In fact it’s a model of a submarine but everything is like real', but were caught between whimsy and a few practical details.

My comment was to suggest 'feathering' the vanes except when propelling forward. However, if the paddlewheel center were slightly above the deck, it'd make a fun semi-submersible excursion boat.

In the final analysis, it's touristy and delightfully so!

Also, Wikipedia only has paraffin engine experiments during WWII; I must have been confused by that.

OK, I am not an engineer, but the pistons look very real to me, so whoever built this thing took a huge interest in details.
It looks like the builder used parts from a scrapped locomotive. It even has ballast tanks

anyway, some more information would be interesting
here is another picture from 2006

That's a nice photo.  So, how real was this originally?  Was it powered or just lowered down?  o_o

It would be nce to know what its original use was, as there appear to be no windows on the 2006 model....  ???

Obviously, someone has bought it up and turned it into a tourist novelty.......  :D

the construction (2006) looks like made for an exterior pressure
My guess would be that it originally was some kind of floating device, like a pontoon.
Also, there is some construction at the End that is now the stern, which is almost invisible.

Since I agree that the recent contraption does not look like it could really work, I would assume it to be a simple fake or something to be submerged "just for the feeling of it"
Anyway, it is a very lovingly built toy

Thanks for the other picture! I'm at a loss to explain any of it, but nice to see the uncluttered outline.

That bit on the far end of the piccie does gives one pause...

Whjat a cool bit of steampunk fantasy. Too bad it is so far away. If it were in my neighborhood I'd be dressing the part to take pics for photoshopping purposes.
